| Experiment Name: | Anti-Sedimentation Test of Alcohol-Soluble Polyurethane Resin Pearl Paint | Temperature/Humidity: | 19/51 | ||||
| Customer: | YunnanApplicant: | Ye Kai | Experiment Date: | March 15, 2026 | |||
| Objective: To evaluate and select suitable additives for the customer's pearlescent paint system, using ethanol as the thinning solvent, such that the resulting mixture exhibits no visible stratification or settling within a 30-minute timeframe. | |||||||

Experimental Method 1. Formulation 1: Add 6860 dispersant and stir until homogeneous. 2. Formulation 2: Add 6881 dispersant and stir until homogeneous. 3. Formulation 3: First, mix 4330 with the resin and disperse at high speed until the fineness reaches <15 μm. Then add the remaining materials and stir until homogeneous. 4. Formulation 4: First, disperse 4320 at high speed until the fineness reaches <15 μm. Then add the remaining materials and stir until homogeneous. All formulations were finally observed together with the original formulation to evaluate the settling time of the pearlescent pigment (at application viscosity of 12–15 seconds). |

Conclusion Among the tested formulations, Formulation 1 (with 6881 dispersant) exhibited pronounced stratification and sedimentation. Formulation 4 demonstrated the longest stability, with no visible stratification or settling for up to 1 hour, indicating that the 4320 dispersant meets the customer's requirements. Samples of 4320 and 4330 have been taken by the customer for further trial application. |
