1. Experimental Objective

The customer's sample slurry is an acrylic-based system using Cabot 300 carbon black with a carbon black content of 50%. The target carbon black content is 35%. Before sample preparation, the slurry must be thoroughly homogenized.

2. Experimental Protocol

After sample preparation, the following requirements must be met:

Zahn cup viscosity: 12–18 s (corresponding to rotational viscometer reading of 200–300 mPa·s)
No wetting agent required
Fineness: <10 μm
If defoaming is needed, Anjeka 7414 may be used. The customer currently uses BYK 193 with limited effectiveness.
After thermal storage, the sample is considered acceptable as long as no gelation occurs.

3. Experimental Results and Comparison

3.1 Test Method

Samples were prepared according to the reference formulation shown in the table below. After 3 hours of grinding, the glass beads were filtered out. The fineness was measured by drawdown, and the viscosity was tested. Slurries meeting the viscosity requirement were placed in a 60°C oven for 3-day and 7-day storage for observation and comparison.

Slurries were prepared according to Table 1.

4.Experimental Conclusion

After testing, it was found that in the acrylic ink system, the use of Anjeka dispersants 6240-50 and 6240 (high solid content version) to prepare the customer's color paste exhibits excellent viscosity reduction and anti-settling properties, meeting the customer's requirements.
