APPLICATION GUIDELINES

It is generally compatible with both solvent-based and solvent-free binders. It prevents pigment settling in the coating. The rheological properties of the coating are improved. It reduces the tendency for sagging on vertical surfaces. It provides better coverage at the edges of the substrate during dip coating.

The drying of oxidation-curing systems is not affected. If added in appropriate amounts, it does not impair the effectiveness of the drying agents in the coating even after prolonged storage.

For anti-corrosion coatings, it does not affect the coating’s inherent corrosion resistance.

Recommended for the activation of organic bentonite and to enhance the production of pyrolytic silica

Process

Can be added at any stage of paint production; addition during pigment dispersion is particularly recommended.

The recommended dosage is 0.1–2% of the total pigment and filler content.

These are only reference values; the most effective dosage must be determined through experimentation.

Reference formulation for activating bentonite:

80–87 Xylene or solvent oil
