GENERAL DESCRIPTION
A wetting and dispersing agent designed for solvent-based automotive coatings, industrial coatings, and concentrated pigment dispersions. Particularly well-suited for stabilizing ultrafine carbon black and organic pigments, it significantly reduces the viscosity of grinding media and effectively enhances color development performance.
PRODUCT DATA
Chemical Composition: Solution of graft copolymer with pigment-affine groups
The data provided on this sheet represents typical values and not product specifications.
Acid Value (mgKOH/g): | 2-12 |
Density (g/cm³ at 23℃): | 0.94-1.02 |
Viscosity (cps at 25℃): | 25-100 |
Non-volatile content (%): | 45 |
Solvent: | n-Butyl Acetate |
STORAGE and TRANSPORT
Storage at temperatures below 15℃ may result in layering or crystallization; heat to 40℃ and thoroughly mix. Storage beyond 12 months is not recommended.
SPECIAL NOTES
Surface treatments of certain organic pigments may adversely affect the effectiveness of this wetting and dispersing agent. In such cases, consider using untreated pigments of the same type.
APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Key Features and Benefits:
Utilizing steric hindrance, the additive aids in the facilitation of pigment deflocculation, ensuring stability. ANJEKA—6173 induces a uniform charge among pigment particles, creating repulsion and steric hindrance mechanisms that efficiently ward off possible flocculation. This results in an improved gloss, heightened color intensity, increased transparency, and enhanced coverage of the coating, concurrently reducing the viscosity associated with the grinding process.

RECOMMENDED LEVELS
Additive levels (as purchased) based on pigment:
Titanium Dioxide: | 5%—6% |
Inorganic Pigments: | 10%—15% |
Organic Pigments: | 20%—80% |
Carbon Black: | 30%—120% |
The above data are empirical levels; optimal levels should be determined through a series of experiments.
PROCESSING INSTRUCTIONS
For optimal performance, add the additive to the grinding media before introducing pigments. Pre-mix the resin and solvent components of the grinding media, then slowly add the additive under constant stirring. Do not add pigments until the additive is uniformly mixed.
